Hello everyone,
I hope this post finds you well. I wanted to provide an update on the development of Afro-Future Rising and address the silence over the past couple of months. There’s been a bit of a hiccup on my end, but progress is still being made, and I’m excited to share what’s been happening behind the scenes.
Technical Challenges
One of the main reasons for the lack of updates is a technical issue that has put a bit of a wrench in the development process. After adding a MetaHuman Character to the project, Unreal Engine started crashing every time I tried to open it. Despite my best efforts to troubleshoot, the problem persists. For those curious, I’m working on an MSI Katana G76 with 8GB of RAM, which might be a part of the problem.
Continued Development
While the engine issue has been frustrating, it hasn’t stopped me from moving forward with Afro-Future Rising. I’ve been focusing on the Game Design Document (GDD), and let me tell you, it’s become much more complex than I initially expected.
I now have a detailed level design that includes intricate interactions between various game elements. While there’s always room for improvement, I’m pleased with how things are shaping up. This foundation will be crucial as we continue to build and refine the game.
Next Steps
Looking ahead, my next step is to bring a character artist on board. I want to start by sketching the first level of the game in a comic style, which will help visualize the story and gameplay elements more clearly. This will not only aid in development but also give you, the community, a sneak peek into the world we’re creating.
Final Thoughts
Thank you for your patience and continued support. Development has its ups and downs, but I’m committed to bringing Afro-Future Rising to life. Stay tuned for more updates, and hopefully, we’ll have some exciting visuals to share soon.
