{Hello World}
Well, i figured that I had to get back to sketching in order to progress with the game design and it’s been a while, the last time i sketched was in 2016 and I was using pencil and paper.
In order to have the characters sprites and at least some basic game design and other things i will be needing, getting some sketching materials was next.
Being new to the “digital drawing” thing, I went and got myself (extra late Christmas present) a One by Wacom tablet , supposedly ideal for beginners.
I had the initial character generated and used it as model to recreate one I will be able to use for the sprites.
I discovered that “Digital Drawing” is a freaking hard skill! #Respect to all artists out there.
These are the huddles I faced, and if anyone have any tips or links, I would really appreciate.
1. How to you control the flow and pressure?
(I’m using PS CC 23 and I couldn’t find a link to explain the basic of the basic :/)
2. Any recommendation for movements? (I found a couple of links on “Puppet Tool” – any others?)
3. Coloring – Complete mystery, I’m not tackling that right now, but if you have any links that can help prepare, that would be great.
Final
Plan for the coming weeks:
It took me about 5 hours to create this character (I still need some “getting use to” with the tablet).
And knowing that i have 5 more humans, 1 cat and 1 dog as main protagonists, my plan to complete the characters is:
Jan 1st Saturday: Female Character (PAA)
Jan 2nd Saturday: Male + Female Character (ASF)
Jan 3rd Saturday: Male + Female Character (WC)
Jan last Saturday: 1 Cat + 1 Dog
I should also receive the 3D model of the above character from the Fiver freelancer by the 2nd Saturday, and will try to squeeze some time to add some motions to it.
Thanks to the Indie Games Developer Group on LinkedIn, I got someone who helped me getting GDD (Game Design Document) templates and a couple of references from other games. [ I learnt that the initial name of Grand Theft Auto was ” Race ‘n’ Chase “, and even though the game evolved so much through the years, while reading the first GDD, you can actually still find the “essence” of the game.]
This will help me structure the GDD for Generation AI.
