Hello to all the followers of “Afro-Future Rising”! It’s been an exciting time as I started working on the demo level design for the solo mode.
I’m going solo on this project, and it’s been a journey filled with learning and creativity, shaping a MOBA-style experience all on my own.
Designing the Level
- Sketch to Reality: I’ve finalized the design of our demo level. After several iterations and sketches, I’ve landed on a layout that offers both thrilling gameplay and strategic depth.
- Development Begins in Unreal: The real challenge and excitement began as I started translating these ideas into a playable level in Unreal Engine. Seeing my concepts come to life is incredibly fulfilling.
Current Progress
- Laying the Groundwork: The map’s basic structure is in place, with the high ground and two main lanes set to guide the action.
- Adding Life to the Map: I’ve begun adding buildings and environmental elements like trees, giving the map a more vibrant and realistic feel.
What’s Next
- Fleshing Out the Environment: My next goal is to complete the environmental setup for one side of the map. By next week, I hope to finish the entire map, ensuring a balance between aesthetics and gameplay.
- HUD Development: Once the map is fully detailed, my focus will shift to creating the HUD. This will include essential elements like a mini-map, slots for weapons and abilities, and health and energy bars.
Looking Forward
Developing the HUD is a crucial next step – it’s what will make the demo level truly playable and immersive. I’m excited to tackle this challenge and can’t wait to share the progress with you.
